* Team disbanded and left West Yorkshire League

The current Saturday First team was formed in 2004 and was mostly made up of 16 year olds, most of whom had just finished playing junior football with Seacroft Colts and wanted to continue playing together, plus a few players from other junior teams and a couple of older players. Paul Ogilvie (who’d managed Seacroft Colts) agreed to manage this fledgling East End Park WMC side.

Their first season (2004-05) was spent playing in the Leeds Red Triangle League where they won the 2nd Division title, only losing 1 league game the entire season. They then moved to the West Yorkshire League where East End Park’s teams have traditionally played.

Park strengthened the side considerably towards the back end of the 2006-07 season and prior to the start of the 2007-08 season and this led to the forming of a reserve team team for the 2007-08 campaign, this team is managed by Noel McGuire.

Doing the Double

This team strengthening paid off as Park's first team went unbeaten in the league during 2007-08 winning the Division 2 title taking 76 out of a possible 84 points and finishing 24 points ahead of the team in second place. The first team also won the W.R.C.F.A. County Trophy to complete a fantastic double.

Elland Road

The First team continued to build on their success in 2008-09 finishing in a creditable 5th place in Division 1 of the West Yorkshire League. They also reached the final of the prestigious Leeds & District F.A. Senior Cup Final and in doing so got to play at Elland Road. Sadly they lost the Final after a penalty shoot-out to Whitkirk Wanderers in a game which stirred memories of past games between these local East Leeds rivals.

Though the First Team lost out in a Final the Reserves managed to claim their first silverware when they won the C.I.U. Cup in a game that also needed a penalty shoot-out against East Leeds opponents, this time Crossgates WMC.

Park continue to attract players to the club depite never actively seeking any new players. The vast majority of the players at the club are in their early twenties and teens and are from the East End Park, Gipton and Seacroft areas in East Leeds.

Building for the

Future

During the summer

of 2008 East End

Park were

approached by

Ronnie Pearson

and Alan Pitts

about the possibility of allowing a junior side that they manageded to join the club. The club agreed and East End Park's Under 14s won the Garforth Junior League Division 1 title in 2008/09.

The juniors are a talented side and it is hoped that many of the players will move on to play for the senior teams adding to the depth of talent that's already here and helping to create an exciting future for East End Park WMC FC.
